 Covering the earliest history, Domesday Book, the granting of a Borough Charter and  life recorded through the centuries in the Court Rolls and then the 19^th century Parish Papers.  Our village has a better recorded history than most.  Already some of the contents have been updated and rewritten and can be read on my history website   www.eleventowns.uk/history.html   There will be further extracts from the book in future articles.

A collection of old postcards and photographs of places and people who have lived in Ruyton XI Towns and who kindly lent me their precious family treasures to be included in this book.  It was published by Quiller Books of Wykey as part of the celebrations of the 700^th anniversary of the granting of the Borough Charter in 1308.

The little known story of the East African slave trade and the British efforts to bring it to an end.  May Allen was the daughter of the Vicar of Prees in north Shropshire, she trained as a nurse and in 1878, sailed to Zanzibar to be the first medical missionary with the Universities Mission to Central Africa.  There are many references to the county and even West Felton and Ruyton XI Towns.
